and hearts be warm this holiday.
enjoy the season!
i keep drafting very cross, humbuggy sorts of posts. fortunately for you, i haven’t posted one. yet. solstice came and went, and now it’s christmas eve TOMORROW. tomorrow, people! and we aren’t moved into the house, which has no working place to bathe and no kitchen anyway. we never did put up a tree because we were so sure we would be in the new house. i never did get to make things for the girls’ christmas because all of my sewing stuff is still packed.
wait, i said i was going to stop complaining.
i am so grateful for my parents, who are doing everything they can to help us get into the house. for my husband, who is an amazing father and partner. i love love love the new house, even in its unfinished state.
and you know, i still love christmas. ooh, and my birthday. just six days away!
so merry christmas, everyone. may you be surrounded by people you love. i know i will be!
a backache, two very overexcited girls…
and three beds.
photos tomorrow when it’s daytime instead of nighttime.

gingerbread. a christmas tradition that my parents still observe every year, with huge, cookie-sheet sized men, an assortment of gorgeous copper holiday cookie cutters, and several full days of baking, frosting, giving excitedness. last year was bunny’s first of eating- this year was her first of decorating!
in the interim of the year we found out that bunny is gluten intolerant. i knew that our golden standard gingerbread recipe would have to undergo a conversion, and was prepared to spend lots of time figuring it out. turns out i only had to make a few minor adjustments- and the cookies taste just as good as the originals! if anyone is interested in the recipe, let me know and i’ll post it.
it just wouldn’t be christmas around here without gingerbread.
but look at that lovely floor! and the beautiful walls! and the unpainted trim!
